The intention was simply that the eggs would be redeemable for a V2, straight swap. However, despite the fact we have repeatedly talked about V2 being a larger collection to increase the size of our community and nearly 1500 eggs being minted, eggs have been trading on the secondary for prices far higher than the realistic mint price of V2. Therefore, we have decided to increase their utility.
The pool of V2s associated with the eggs will contain a higher proportion of rare Zombies and Mutants. This means if you hold an egg, you will have a higher chance of pulling a rare than if taking part in the public mint. The public mint will still contain rare V2 but it will be a smaller %.
Eggs are minted from the v1 creator wallet which means they give access to the GOC chat. When V2 is released, the V1 owners will retain their own private chat, in addition to the more broad Goanna Owners chat which will include V1+V2 owners.
If someone chooses not to hatch their egg, they can retain access to the V1 chat as long as they hold the egg.
There will be a deadline by which time eggs must be hatched. If they are not hatched by this time then they will remain eggs and no longer be redeemable for a V2. It is anticipated this would be around 6 weeks after the launch. The reason for this, is that since we cannot mint on demand, the V2s will all be minted in advance of the release. After the deadline, any unhatched V2s will be made available in a public sale, details to be confirmed. We have not ruled out future utility for eggs in subsequent drops or side projects.
With the pivot to not utilise the eggs for the two airdrops, a decision needs to be made regarding what is done with the unused eggs. Several of these will be used for giveaways and community events prior to the V2 release. Once V2 has been launched the undistributed eggs will not be distributed and held locked in a burn wallet.
Following the community governance vote it was decided that after the conclusion of the staking period we would utilize a snapshot/airdrop approach instead. There are two scheduled wallet snapshots.
Snapshot 1: 31 Jan
Snapshot 2: 14 March
To be eligible for the airdrop your Goanna must be in your wallet at the time of the snapshot. If it is listed for sale on any marketplace it will be inelgibile and you will not qualify for the airdrop. Advance notice will be published of the snapshot on both twitter and discord to remind holders to de-list. Once the snapshot has been completed you are free to re-list your Goanna for sale.
All eligible wallets from the first snapshot will be airdropped a piece of mutant fruit. The majority of holders will receive the standard pineapple, while three holders will receive the super rare mutant strawberry. Please opt into both ASA ids, before the airdrop which is scheduled to take place on 27th Feb.
During the release of V2, the pineapple can be used to produce a mutant version of your existing V1 Goanna.
When you produce your V2 mutant, you will retain your original V1 Goanna.
Each V1 will only be able to produce one mutant and one zombie.
If you choose not to use the fruit to mutate your V1 Goanna it can be used to claim a randomly assigned V2 mutant or it can be sold on the secondary market
If buying a mutant fruit on the secondary market, please note that expected mint size of V2 is substantially larger than V1 and the mint price of V2 will be considerably lower than the V1s current floor. The mutant claimed will be from a pool with the same % of rarity as the public mint.
There will only be 3 mutant strawberries. These rare and highly toxic fruits will produce extremely mutated and highly valuable mutant Goannas. The mutant strawberry can be used on its own and does not require a V1 Goanna to mint a mega mutant.
All eligible wallets from the second snapshot will be airdropped a zombie infection. The majority of holders will receive the standard zombie bite, while three holders will receive the super rare Zombie Viruses. Please opt into both ASA ids, before the airdrop date 14th March.
During the release of V2, the zombie bite can be used to produce a zombie version of your existing V1 Goanna. The traits from the V1 will be matched in the zombie version.
When you produce your V2 zombie, you will retain your original V1 Goanna.
Each V1 will only be able to produce one mutant and one zombie.
If you choose not to use the bite to zombify your V1 Goanna it can be used to claim a randomly assigned V2 zombie or it can be sold on the secondary market.If buying a zombie bite on the secondary market, please note that expected mint of V2 size is substantially larger than V1 and the mint price of V2 will be considerably lower than the V1s current floor. The zombie claimed will be from a pool with the same % of rarity as the public mint.
There will only be 3 zombie virus viles released. These super high doses of zombie viruses will produce a highly infected and rare zombie Goanna. The zombie virus can be used on its own and does not require a V1 Goanna to mint a mega zombie.
It is anticipated the total size of the V2 collection will be 5555 NFTs (split evenly between zombies and mutants.) The eggs, fruits and bites will produce approx 1500 V2s leaving the remaining 4055 V2s to be released in a public sale.
The sale will be conducted in a single release with all pieces sold in a blind, instant shuffle.
From the public sale a % will be used to seed the Goanna DAO treasury.
The Zombie and Mutant factions, will also each have their own DAO treasury. There will be regular battles between the two factions. The winning side of each battle will receive a payment into their DAO treasury as well as bragging rights until the next battle.
More details will be released around the functions of the various DAOs in the coming months and how the battles and gamifcation of the collection will take place.
It is anticipated that the V2 collection will launch in early Q3 2022. While the collection could easily have been rushed out much sooner, we have opted to take a longer more considered approach. The decision to produce both zombies and mutants has undoubtedly made it a far harder task. However, given the NFTs will remain on the blockchain and a part of the Algorand history indefinitely we wanted to ensure they were as good as they could possibly be. The collection will include over 700 unique traits, each of which will be hand crafted by our team of artists.
We have not confirmed a mint price at this stage. With the launch still several months away it seems pointless to speculate on this. We will be basing the mint price on both the price of Algo/USD and also the NFT market at that time. However, given the much larger size of the collection of V2 compared with V1 it will be significantly more affordable.
